Stag Nights & Hen Parties
Another very important feature of the wedding plans is the stag and hen nights. These are usually planned and organised by your best man and bridesmaids so all you have to do is just sit back and enjoy! Your only input should be to decide on who is invited and the location.
There are six main points to consider:-
- Who to invite? Keep the numbers to 10-12 maximum as some of the planned activities dictate this.
- When will it take place? Ideally leave a two week gap before the wedding.
- Budget. How much can everyone afford?
- Where? Local, National or European?
- How to get there?
- What to do?
It is important to plan well in advance – at least 3 months before the event – to ensure availability of members and planned activities. Groom and best man decide on the budget taking into consideration everyone’s ability to pay and then appoint a treasurer to hold the monies and pay for the event/activities/drinks kitty. If planned well in advance, the treasurer could arrange a weekly collection so that the expense is spread.
Decide on the location depending on the budget. There are a number of companies that can arrange the whole package for you including accommodation, flights (if required) and activities which usually include daytime as well as evening entertainment. The best man/bridesmaid needs to order the costume theme for their respective events and arrange orders so that they are available for the day/evening.
It is highly likely that the evening will finish off in a nightclub, so check the dress code beforehand ensuring that you have a named contact to allow your party in rather than face an ugly bouncer without a sense of humour!
