Bridal Accessories

One of the most difficult decisions for the Bride will be choosing the right wedding dress, however once you have done this you need to focus on how to accessorise it. This is a great way to make your outfit unique and different. Accessories can include jewellery, shoes, hair clips and a veil if you choose. Remember that bridal accessories should compliment your dress and flow together nicely rather then standing out.

Consider the Time of Year

Depending on the time of year you have chosen to get married you may need some sort of shawl or cape to keep you warm. Even in the summer you may find that a light shrug may be necessary and can help add a little glamour to your dress.

You may also like to consider a parasol if you are getting married outside in the summer and also a bridal umbrella in case the unthinkable happens and it rains.

Wedding Shoe Tips

When choosing you wedding shoes keep in mind the time of year your wedding will take place, the style of your dress and the location. For example if you have chosen to get married on a beach then simple sandals would be more appropriate then formal shoes.

Make sure that you have purchased your shoes prior to your first dress fitting as this can determine the length of the dress.

If possible take a swatch of your dress fabric with you when buying your shoes as you will be surprised at just how many shades a colour can come in! If you cannot find the right colour then many shops offer a dye service if you let them know the exact colour you want.

Try to select a shoe in keeping with what you would usually wear rather then something completely different, as it is important to feel comfortable on the day. Remember that you will most likely be wearing these all day so comfort is as much a factor as style.

Practice walking around in your shoes at home for a few hours here and there to help break them in.

If you are desperate for a certain pair of shoes that match your dress but are not especially comfortable then you could consider buying a flat pair for the evening to change into.

Hair, Veil and Tiara Tips

It can be useful to look through bridal magazines to get an idea of styles you would like before going to your hairdresser. However do not be upset if they suggest a few changes as not all styles suit everyone.

It is important when going for your first hair trial that you know if you will be having any accessories in your hair such as a veil or tiara. This is important so that you choose a style that will be suitable.

If you do decide to opt for a veil or tiara then choose one that suits your face shape and the style of the dress. Make sure that you try it on after your wedding hair trial and walk around to check that it will not slip about on the day.

These days many brides opt to wear a simple headband, sparkly hair pins or just a fancy hair clip. These can work with most hairstyles and are therefore a great way to add some sparkle to your hair and complement your dress.

Bridal Jewellery Tips

When selecting your jewellery bear in mind the style and neckline of your dress. If you have an elaborate dress with lots of jewels on it you may not need a necklace for example. If your neckline is quite high then you will need a short necklace so make sure you try your jewellery on with the dress before the day to allow for any alterations.

Simple is often best but if you have opted for few other accessories and a plainer dress then you can be a bit more bold.

Make sure that you stick to a sensible budget and try to select something that could be worn again for other occasions.
